TORQUAY I Sapphire Spaces
Ask a Question:
On this project we worked very closely with our clients and architect Lee Guilfoyle to create a sociable yet functional kitchen to complement the contemporary design and the scale of the large open space. bulthaup b3 furniture was selected with finishes in Alpine White laminate and a contrasting sawn Black Oak veneer. A 4.5m island provides the focal point of the room with a stunning asymmetric custom-made extractor over. As storage played a large part of the design brief there are back to back cupboards on both sides of the island. To maintain the open feel of the room the island was raised off the floor on Stainless Steel Legs. A practical quartz worktop was chosen and the breakfast bar was finished in sawn oak veneer to match the tall unit run. To optimise storage all of the cupboards incorporate solid Walnut internal drawers and pull-outs.
As the clients are keen cooks they invested in a wide range of Gaggenau appliances including two fan ovens and a range of vario cooktops. Tall units set into a recess extend the entire width of the room with Gaggenau Wine coolers, fridge and freezer. These units also incorporate clever hidden storage and working space behind foldaway pocket doors and also a hidden microwave, combination steam oven and warming drawer. These units are all veneered internally in natural walnut.
The wall units running parallel to the island include a full height larder pull-out. A boiling water Quooker tap is included in addition to the bulthaup wall mounted tap and for convenience a secondary fridge from sub zero is situated in the adjoining base unit making this an ideal drinks area.
