Designed in 1955 the CH88 chair existed only as a prototype for 60 years until Carl Hansen & Søn launched it to mark their 100th anniversary in 2015. The CH88 is an extremely versatile piece that has numerous finish, frame and room placement options. The wooden backrest has been steam-bent to offer comfort and support while the gentle curvatures of the backrest's ends provide a natural resting place for arms. The seat of the CH88 is also wooden and is supported by a steel frame. The combination of wood and metal gives this stackable chair a light, organic and slightly industrial style. The frame is available in stainless steel, black powder coated steel and chrome while the seat can be finished with optional leather or textile upholstery. The wooden seat and backrest can also be colour lacquered.
