Functional Elegance
Alex Newbery from Sapphire Living Space in Topsham shares her style inspiration with Devon Home
Despite working with many brands, Sapphire Living Space’s style philosophy is simple – to achieve functional elegance. “Whether you are looking for a kitchen or a bathroom, some cutlery of a toothbrush holder, our aim is always the same,” Alex explains. “There is little point in having something beautiful that does not serve a purpose, and why...

Objects of Desire
I've found the perfect book - and now I need the perfect chair to curl up in - and thankfully those clever folks at Sapphire Living Space have done all the hard work for me, says Interiors Editor CAROL BURNS.
Danish furniture designer, Hans J.Wegner was one of a small group of Danish furniture designers whose creations significantly contributed to the popularity of mid-century Danish design, a style that was all the rage with cosmopolitan Americans in the '50's and '60s.
In 1960, Wegner sketched...

Bathroom BLISS
It’s time to think carefully about creating your own sensory experiences in the bathroom says DAVID ASPINALL, Design Director at Sapphire Living Space
More and more I work with clients who are looking to create a tranquil spa environment at home and, with manufacturers increasingly focused on offering sensory products, achieving this might be easier than you think.
Where people go wrong is to not do it properly. Putting a sauna in the corner...

Designed by Charles and Ray Eames, the Eames Lounge Chair has become an iconic must-have piece of furniture so much so that it is part of the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. The chair and matching ottoman, officially titled Eames Lounge (670) and Ottoman (671), were first released in 1956 after years of development and have been in continuous production ever since. When Objects Work
Posted by Sapphire Spaces on May 21st 2014 in General
William Morris famously observed that you should ‘have nothing in your houses which you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful’ and When Objects Work was founded on that principle.
The Belgian based company was started by Beatrice de Lafontaine who would, in her past life, add the finishing interior touches to brand new buildings. Realising the limitations of the objects available and their impracticality, Lafontaine responded by doing what any self-respecting creative would do, and set up her own company.
Lafontaine has commissioned pieces by many renowned designers and architects from around the world...

The brand is well known with professional chefs but is also getting a name for itself with leading designers and celebrities including Wayne Hemingway MBE, Kelly Hoppen...
