Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1949, this chair was one of the first pieces Wegner created solely for Carl Hansen & Son, it was also the last of a series of chairs he designed that took inspiration from antique Chinese armchairs.
Officially titled CH24, the chair is more commonly known as The Wishbone Chair or The Y-Chair because of the Y or wishbone-shaped backrest which provides comfortable back support. The gently rounded top, together with the back support and woven seat, offers a variety of comfortable seating positions ideal for both long visits to the dining table and relaxed lounging.
The Wishbone chair is a masterpiece of craftsmanship with more than 100 production stages, all carried out by hand, including the hand-woven seat that uses 120 metres of sustainable waxed paper cord that will last for years and years. A true design classic, the Wishbone chair has been produced, without interruption, since 1950.
